Scottish Historic Buildings Trust - The national charity saving Buildings at Risk for you.
With the support of others we have raised in excess of £25 million to bring over 30 historic buildings back to life throughout Scotland.
You can support the work that we do several ways either by making a one-off donation to one of our current appeals, through a regular donation, by sponsoring a stone in your favourite building project of ours, or by purchasing a virtual gift or appeal merchandise from our online shop.
Current Appeals and Campaigns

SHBT is entirely self-financing and relies on the generosity of others to save vulnerable historic buildings for you and future generations. The number of buildings that we can save is constrained by the funds available to us. Through your support we can consider the future use of more of Scotland’s important buildings.
Riddle’s Court, Edinburgh – The Patrick Geddes Centre
The Patrick Geddes Centre - We need to raise £5 million to transform this highly significant 16th Old Town building into a national Learning and Conservation Centre and a community learning hub in the heart of the World Heritage Site.
Ham Girnal, Caithness – North Highlands Cultural Hub for Cultural and Performing Arts.
This significant former grain store in the remote north-west will become an important outpost for the performing arts and a community hub. We need to raise £4 million to transform this building which includes undertaking emergency repairs to stop it potentially falling down.
Greenlaw Town Hall - Community Hall
We have recently opened Greenlaw Town Hall for business following an intense 3-year campaign. The grand Central Hall cannot be used formally as a community venue for events, because we had insufficient funds for toilets and other provisions. We are now seeking to raise £70,000 to get this part of the building works completed.

Legacy Giving
A bequest to SHBT will help to save further important Buildings at Risk in Scotland for future generations to enjoy.
Legacies to SHBT are greatly valued and may be expressed as sums of money, or as part of an estate or the residue from other bequests. Legacies may also be in the form of property or furniture which we can either use in properties, or, depending on the wishes of the donor sold to raise funds to give life to another building. Leaving a bequest to SHBT will be a leaving a lasting legacy by giving new life to old buildings for the future.
