The earliest known owners of this 16th century merchant’s house in Kirkcaldy were the ship-owning Law family in the late 1500s – hence ‘Law’s Close’.
Now A-listed, and used for a variety of purposes over the years, the building had fallen into disrepair prior to the Scottish Historic Buildings Trust becoming involved in the 1980s. Over the next 20 years, SHBT brought the building back to its former glory, restoring key features such as timber panelling, 16th century painted ceilings, a late 17th century plaster work ceiling, and a 17th century wall painting of a ship.
Join us on Doors Open Day for a peek into the extraordinary spaces of this historic building, not usually accessible to the public.
