Jedburgh and Hawick Conservation Area Regeneration Schemes
Introduction
The Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS) programme was set up in order to deliver funding for conservation-based regeneration activities within Scotland’s historic town centres. The programme is run by Historic Environment Scotland and operated in conjunction with local authorities. Each scheme runs over a five-year period and offers grant aid towards traditional buildings repairs as well as complementary initiatives such as Traditional Skills Training and Community Heritage Projects.
The experience that SHBT has working on both large, grant-funded schemes and individual building restoration projects means we are ideally placed to assist with the development, delivery and wrap up reporting of CARS projects. We will engage with property owners, statutory bodies and funding organisations to ensure the schemes are as successful as they can be for the long-term care of the traditional building fabric and the wider local communities.
